Urbane

Full Description

In 2001, Andrew Patten and Andrew Buchanan opened the doors of Urbane restaurant, a small 35-seater bistro. With the aim of serving great food and wine in a comfortable and elegant location, Urbane quickly built an enviable reputation for quality, creativity and absolute attention to detail.

Kym Machin first joined the team as Head Chef in 2004, pushing boundaries with new and exciting produce and flavour combinations, and often challenging the mindset and dining experience for many Brisbanites. Urbane soon became one of Brisbane’s, if not Australia’s, landmark restaurants.

In June 2009 Urbane closed its doors to undertake an extensive multi-million dollar renovation. Reopening six months later, doubled in size and with its own private dining room downstairs, diners were also introduced to its two younger siblings, The Euro and The Laneway.

Whether it is a casual drink, leisurely lunch or unique fine dining experience, we aim to provide food and wine to tantalise the palate in a welcoming atmosphere that will leave you wanting more.

The much loved and lauded multi-award-winning restaurant Urbane continues to tantalise the taste buds with its degustation delights and sophisticated, high-quality fine dining experience.

The pared back chic interior design of Urbane creates the perfect setting for Executive Chef Kym Machin’s intricate and carefully crafted food.

Kym and his kitchen team, (led by) Head Chef Todd Adams, use local and national seasonal produce as a starting point for dishes that both excite, and sometimes challenge, the palate. The cuisine style is based in both European and Asian traditions and influences, combining classic techniques with a modern execution.

Urbane’s wine list features a range of European and Australian wines that are food friendly and carefully matched to suit the cuisine, with a focus on back vintages and iconic wines.

According to Sommelier Ramon Arnavas, sourcing wine for the restaurant takes a thorough knowledge of vintages and a lot of patience. “At Urbane, we aren’t interested in listing everyday drops – we want to give our customers the opportunity to drink something unique – something they wouldn’t be able to find themselves.”

Urbane is the perfect setting for intimate group dinners and functions where the quintessential dining experience can be shared amongst friends. Please don’t hesitate to contact us to enquire further about securing your group or private function booking.
