A LITTLE BIT OF HISTORY…

The Eldorado cinemas are a well-established landmark in the Western suburbs. These cinemas have provided movie entertainment for many generations of families growing up in Brisbane.

Eldorado in the 1960s The Eldorado cinemas have been redeveloped into world class cinemas in recent years and also expanded into an 8 screen Multiplex at the dawn of the new millennium.

Eldorado cinema timeline

The Eldorado 8 Multiplex Cinema and Car park currently stand on a site that was a blacksmith shop in the early 1900s, evidence can still be found to this day with the odd horseshoe turning up during any excavation work.

In the 1920’s a civic building called Stanford Hall was constructed and occasionally exhibited movies, so popular were these movies that a purpose built theatre was built on the site called the Lyric.

In the early 1960’s the name changed to the Eldorado, (after the legendary Aztec City of gold). Since those days the Eldorado has metamorphosed into a state of the art entertainment venue bristling with the latest technologies.
