Full Description
At Bar Barossa we also represent a new generation of Barossa artisans, some young and enthusiastic winemakers, others innovative chefs or artists. Bar Barossa, in Brisbane’s CBD, is the place where we introduce these talented people to wine enthusiasts who appreciate the joy of discovering new wines and wineries.
While our heart may be Barossan, our Bar Barossa team is forever discovering brilliant wines from around Australia and across the globe. To reflect this, our wine list is called Barossa & Beyond.
We have just celebrated our first birthday and have been fortunate to receive many wonderful reviews, but our daily focus remains improving our customers’ experience each time they pull open our door.
We also like to remind our friends of a terrific saying coined by maverick wine lover Len Evans – “You have only so many bottles in your life, never drink a bad one.”
Our mission is simple – to bring amazing, handcrafted wines to your table and tell their story.
We love the magic of wine and believe it is so much more than simply a drink.
As private sommelier Darren Davis says, “Wine is much more than its technical and clinical analysis – it is sunshine; it is a story, a memory, a point in time, and you should feel proud to place a special bottle on the middle of the table any night of the week.”
In a world where wine is increasingly being produced in industrial-style volumes for giant corporations, Purple Palate focuses on sourcing unique wines from smaller, family-owned producers, and collecting benchmark wines for cellaring and enjoyment in years to come.
While our heart is Barossan (our “business headquarters” is the old Tanunda Cellars wine store), our team is forever discovering wonderful wines from across Australia and the globe.
We believe the world of wine is an adventure and love the thrill of discovering new wines and understanding different varieties.
We believe winemakers are rock stars and relish every chance to get to know them and their vineyards and learn the secrets of their craft.
We always strive to deliver on value, service, knowledge and enthusiasm in everything we do.
Most of all, we love sharing our discoveries and knowledge with like-minded people, whether it be at Bar Barossa, in our fine wine stores, through purplepalate.com or at our winemaker dinners and tasting events.
At the end of the day, wine is meant to be fun. So, jump aboard – the Purple Palate express is gathering speed!
Bar Barossa has received a tip of cap from The Courier Mail’s food and wine critics.
Our team was thrilled to receive a much – coveted one star rating at The Courier Mail Food and Wine Guide 2011 Awards, along with other iconic restaurants such as Char Char Char, Citron, Two Small Rooms, Spirit House and The Byron Bay on Byron.
“This is a great reward for our head chef JJ Smith and manager Belle Reid,” managing director, John Lehmann said, “Our focus will continue to be giving our customers the very best experience every time they pull back our door.”
Brisbane’s Ortiga was named Best Restaurant, while its chef Pablo Tordesillas was named Chef of the Year.
